OK, so I went to see Sex and the City 2 the other day. I knew that it got some pretty bad reviews, and yes, I (like most people) liked the first movie much better. But, from an interior design point of view, the sequel was quite interesting.
My favourite part of the movie was when Carrie declares that she has been “cheating on fashion with furniture” when the salesclerk at Bergdorf wonders where she’s been. She has been busy decorating her and Big’s new apartment. I can’t really decide if I like the new apartment or not. It seems to be more Big and less Carrie. It is nice, no doubt, but very different from her old apartment (which was always my favourite part of the series). It is less boheme, more grown up (more expensive no doubt), very trendy and maybe a bit…impersonal?

The livingroom. Both the Candy Flower rug (by Marni) and the Birdie Blossom Cushion (by Paul Smith) are from The Rug Company. I can only imagine what this movie must have done for their sales levels! The blue seat is actually designed by Finnish Anne Kyyrrö Quinn. My favourite part of this room is the coffe table, very interesting idea having the books standing up. I think I like it! Also note the blue Chinese Foo Dog statues used as book supports.

The bedroom. This room has a very “hotel-ish” feeling to me, but I do love the Harem Rug (by Tasmin de Roemer) Designer Collection. The other thing I like about this room is the bed headbord fabric, Velvet Gate Tuxedo from Kravet. Very nice! the wallpaper in this room, Rococo Damask, is by Cole & Son.

The kitchen. This is my favourite part of the apartment. I like the clean lines and the retro table and chairs. The rug is Starflower Blue, by Barber & Osgerby from the Designer Collection.
Designer Lydia Marks was responsible for decorating the apartment. What do you think about it?
